Having a gentle morning rhythm is a blessing for the whole family. The expectation of knowing what the morning will hold, and that it will be a gentle way to wake up, offers a sense of safety and belonging to everyone in your home.
Here are five tips for more peaceful mornings…
- Light a beeswax candle
- Play calming music – my gentle wake up playlist on Spotify 🕊⛅️
- No tv – instead create a morning basket of books, blocks, magnatiles, playsilks, or train tracks that the kids can expect to find in the morning and will encourage imaginative play
- Prep breakfast the night before (see below for a great overnight oat muffin recipe!)
- Clean the kitchen before going to bed
Oat muffins
2 cups oats
3/4 cup almond flour
2 scoops collagen *you can omit if you don’t have it! Just add 2 more tbs of almond flour if you do!
1/2 cup coconut sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
1 cups Greek yogurt
1/4 cup maple syrup
3/4 cup milk
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup puréed pumpkin
1-2 tsp of pumpkin pie spice (depending on how “spicey” you like them!)
Combine in a bowl and refrigerate overnight.
Bake at 375 for 25-30 mins. Makes a dozen!
