Having a gentle morning rhythm is a blessing for the whole family. The expectation of knowing what the morning will hold, and that it will be a gentle way to wake up, offers a sense of safety and belonging to everyone in your home.

Here are five tips for more peaceful mornings…

  1. Light a beeswax candle
  2. Play calming music – my gentle wake up playlist on Spotify 🕊⛅️
  3. No tv – instead create a morning basket of books, blocks, magnatiles, playsilks, or train tracks that the kids can expect to find in the morning and will encourage imaginative play 
  4. Prep breakfast the night before (see below for a great overnight oat muffin recipe!)
  5. Clean the kitchen before going to bed

Oat muffins

2 cups oats

3/4 cup almond flour

2 scoops collagen *you can omit if you don’t have it! Just add 2 more tbs of almond flour if you do!

1/2 cup coconut sugar

1 tsp vanilla

2 eggs

1 cups Greek yogurt

1/4 cup maple syrup

3/4 cup milk

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 cup puréed pumpkin 

1-2 tsp of pumpkin pie spice (depending on how “spicey” you like them!)

Combine in a bowl and refrigerate overnight.

Bake at 375 for 25-30 mins. Makes a dozen!
